Aiken HS German Teacher

I have been a high school teacher since 1979 and have been at Aiken HS since 1987.

I have been World Languages Department Chair for over twenty years.

Contact Personal Statement

It has been very gratifying to see many, many former students use their German to become German professors and teachers in the USA and abroad, international businessmen and businesswomen (BMW, Volkswagen USA, etc.), government officials (US State Department), etc. That has been truly wonderful.

Some Nice Things that Have Happened to Me in My Professional Life

  • 1991: Aiken HS Teacher of the Year 
  • 1997: Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award *
  • 2005: Aiken HS Teacher of the Year
  • 2005: Aiken County Teacher of the Year
  • 2005: Outstanding Community Award from Lower Savannah Council on Aging for Intergenerational Computer Literacy Project. (Same project also recognized by the Lt. Governor's Task Force on Aging for state-wide award.)
  • 2009 - Present: Member, "Teachers of Excellence" Advisory Board to SC Superintendent of Education
Many other nice things have happened, of course. It's been a long, rewarding career. :-)
